the changes
'the changes' is the first album of original songs that were written and performed by Always July. It marked the evolution of the band members from following in the footsteps of others to becoming individuals who have come into their own. Similarly, our music moved in that same direction. We wanted to express our individuality through our own blend of rock music and that was reflected in 'the changes'.

The Changes
Have you ever lived your dreams
Do you know just what it means to have
The things you’ve always wanted.
Separation from the rest
Has brought out from you all your best
You’ve proved them wrong you’ve proven strong
I know you’re feeling weak
Looking back at your mistakes
I know, I know what’s on your mind
I’ve seen that look a million times
*And I feel, the changes
You cry for every night
And I know, the changes
You hope for deep inside
Can you tell what tomorrow brings
Can you see what a blind man sees
She knows, she feels without having to touch
I know you’re feeling sick
Your life is dry and its feeling stripped
I know, I know what’s on your mind
I’ve seen that look a million times
And you know that I’m right
I’m right here by your side
And tonight, we’ll place where we can shine our light
Open up that door and see
Look beyond that 3 by 7 foot box
You know it’s waiting for you.
Always July
Time stands still
And I’m standing in this city heat
Watching as the world goes by
Sea of love
Come crashing on my walls of fire
Smothering the flames of my desire
Fly high above the raging storm
Back into the peace when I was born
Yes I know, when push turns into shove
And I can take, yeah take more than you can throw
And I know, yes I know when push turns into shove
And I can take, yeah take more than you can throw
More than you’ll ever, ever, ever know.
Ask Yourself
Where are you going boy
You’ve been driving up and down that road
You’re looking tired and weak
Why don’t you take off that weary coat
I’ve been watching you
Throwing away your chances
You’d rather roll the dice
Than to settle for love and romances
*So how long will you stay on that fast lane
I know you’re running low on gas …..
Has the love come and gone, ask yourself
Has it really been that long, ask yourself
Can you remember how it feels, ask yourself
Can you mend what you have broken, ask yourself
I know just how you feel
I’ve been down that road before
You don’t have to try, to carry that load alone
Cause’ I’ve been watching you
Throwing away your chances
You’d rather roll the dice
Than to settle for love and romances (repeat *)
Extraordinaire
Wouldn’t you know it
You’ve seen it coming down
You see them all laughing
But you can’t hear a sound
The lies and deception
That spins within your mind
Come clear in the open
Exposed by the hands of time
*Extraordinaire is what you want
I can’t believe how deep you feel
Extraordinaire is what you want
Why can’t you break off from her spell
Extraordinaire is what you need
Everything matters
When no one seems to care
It’s funny how you think
That life has treated you fair
You take all that bullshit
And come out feeling clean
Ignore all your senses
You think it’s just a dream
If no one is for you, then who will be your guide
Your walk thru the dark side, won’t take you to the light
Everything changes, it comes as no surprise
Your reason for living, is killing you inside
Get it Right
Remember when you were a boy
And your momma took away your favourite toys
It hurt so bad you were crying all day
Afraid that she’d give em all away
Or tell me how it really felt
When your best friend hits you below the belt
Did you throw your best one back at him
Did you run and hide, didn’t wanna be seen
*Don’t let the hurt get the better of you
Don’t let the fears deceive you from the truth
No use living on the outside when you’re killing yourself on the inside
Don’t you think it’s time to get it right
Imagine how it feels inside
When you walk in the ring for the heavy weight fight
Will your head start to spin and leave you on your knees
Or will you stand your ground like a man of steel
What’cha gonna do when you’re feeling sick
And you can’t get yourself on your feet
Will you wait in bed for some sympathy
Or will you get up and be what you wanna be
What’cha gonna do when you’re shipwrecked
Or when your baby’s left
What’cha gonna do when you’re all alone
It's Not Over
Smoke rises up to greet the air
You reach to touch but it’s not there
The words still linger in your head
Your chance to speak was: nothing said
It’s not over, till you find the truth inside
It’s no shame, when you’ve got nothing left to hide
Forsaken promises you made
Were never your intention
The risk you took was far too great
A game with bullets and a gun
It’s not over, we’ve only just begun
And it’s no crime, to do what had to be done
Baby, are we having fun
Just bringing tears to everyone
My sanity is running thin
I can’t believe the shape I’m in
It’s not over, till you find the truth inside
It’s no shame, when you’ve got nothing left to hide
It’s not over, we’ve only just begun
And it’s no crime, to do what had to be done
More Than This
So you say that life is short
That’s how you feel when you get bored
You live your life as you wish
You don’t wanna loose, you don’t wanna miss
Who says that you can’t have it all
You take your chances, you take them all
The pills and thrills, end in spills
There’s no meaning left and you want more
*More, more than this
More, more, more than this
So on and on the story goes
You sing along to words you don’t know
Discarded words of wisdom
And degenerated love you throw
You’ve seen them all before
You’ve seen them walk right through your door
How can it be so real you wonder
How is it you can’t have that more (repeat *)
What is it that you want oh tell me
What is it you are looking for
One step is all it takes to get you
A little closer to that more
My Baby
It’s been so long since I’ve felt love
Passing thru these steel doors
What was a friend to me
Now I’ll live and die for
I know it’s hard for you to see
That it’s you that I believe in, constantly
And the price you had to pay
To see me living this way, can set me free
My baby, my baby
Endless months of patience
With loving far beyond compare
A picture with your golden smile
I take it with me every where … I go
They can take the air I breathe
Cause I can live on the breath of your kiss
It doesn’t matter what they say
Cause I’ll still love you all the way, this I promise
My baby, my baby
How can I make you see
That you’re the best thing that’s happened to me
I’d search the world to hold you in my arms again
Oh relieve me of this pain, cause I’m going insane
We can make it if we try
We’ve found a love that just won’t die
Forever till the end of time
My baby, my baby
Within Your Walls
In your world I am free
Free to do as I please
Silent friend who knows my thoughts
And sees the deepest side of me
*Sunlight streams through your blinds
Reveals the space, a place called mine
Keeps me safe from all harm
And what my eyes perceive as wrong
Oh help me make it right
Oh help me pass my night
Oh help me make it right
Is my presence in the air
Do you feel when I’m not there
Keep my world within your walls
And the memories I can’t recall
Close the door that hides the truth
Beliefs and dreams from my youth
Shelter me from my guilt
And save me from the world we built
We built outside your walls
Thank God you made them tall
I’d hate to see it all.
In this ever changing world
Your friendship still remains the same
Do you ever feel the need
To breathe, to take a break from me
Just tell and I will leave
Would You Mind
Would you mind
If I come on too strong
Would you mind
To be with me your whole life long
Would it be too much to ask of you
If you would be untrue or unkind
To the love I give
I’ll give till end of time
Hey I, I’ve loved you for so long
Yes I, I know I’ll carry on and give you all that I have
And if you fall, you wouldn’t have to call
I’ll be there to lift you up
So high that you could fly
If love weren’t so tough
Then I, I’d know what to do
You laugh at the end
But the things, in between make you blue
Make you blue, make you blue, yeah …….
Would you mind
If I come on too strong
Would you mind
To be with me your whole life long
Would you mind, would you mind
