Playground 2: Don Chan Temple Children’s Home | Thailand

Updated: Nov 6, 2024

Address: No. 2, Village No. 4, Tha Sala Subdistrict, Mueang District, Chiang Mai Province 50000, Thailand

In 2019, Shane called with an opportunity to build a playground at a monastery in Chiang Mai, Thailand, which cares for over 900 underprivileged children. Knowing that I’m a Christian, Shane asked if I was cool about building a playground on temple ground. At that point, I was reminded of an old Sunday school song: “Jesus loves the little children, all the children of the world.” With that in mind, I didn’t hesitate and said, “Let’s do it.

The home provided for the children in many ways, but their playground consisted mostly of broken, rusted equipment on unstable ground.

So, we roped in our friends again from Ocean Plastic Intertrade to help us bring Playground No. 2 to life.

First, we laid down a level concrete foundation to ensure the equipment would be stable and safe for the kids.

Then, we transported the equipment from Bangkok and began assembling the playground.

After three months of high anticipation, we finally released JOY at the Don Chan Temple Children’s Home.

The video captures it all - their joy is our greatest reward!

A heartfelt thank you to Shane Hon, Andy, Gilbert Chua, Cat Ong & Knock-On Door Charity Group, and Ocean Plastic Intertrade for their invaluable contributions in making this dream a reality for so many children.

The JOY these kids have experienced is truly life-changing and may you all be richly blessed by our Heavenly Father."
